About Us

On 22nd May, 1997 an article in the Leinster Leader highlighted the dramatic rise in suicides in County Kildare and it was decided to form a group of counsellors and facilitators who could help in suicide prevention and postvention.

The Kildare Suicide Bereavement Support Group was formed and eighteen people were selected for training. Our first meeting as a group was on 1st July, 1997.

We provide a free confidential counselling service to those bereaved by, or contemplating suicide. We also provide counselling support for those bereaved by other forms of traumatic death.

We have been brought into schools in the aftermath of suicides and stay for as long as we are required.
